Pakistan has recorded an improvement in its education sector, with the national literacy rate rising from 60 per cent to 63 per cent.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released the Digital Household Integrated Economic Survey 2024–25, based on detailed data collected from 32,000 households across the country.

The survey was formally launched by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal.

According to the survey, the proportion of out-of-school children has declined from 30 per cent to 28 per cent.

Household access to the internet has increased significantly, rising from 34 per cent to 70 per cent, while the share of individuals using the internet has grown from 17 per cent to 57 per cent.

Nationwide, 96 per cent of households now have access to a mobile phone or smartphone.

The survey further notes that food accounts for the largest share of household expenditure at the national level, standing at 37 per cent. Immunisation coverage has improved from 68 per cent to 73 per cent.

In the energy sector, the use of clean fuels has also increased, rising from 35 per cent to 38 per cent.
