ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General (Retd) Muhammad Aamer, a former Corps Commander of Gujranwala, has been appointed as Pakistan's new ambassador to Qatar, according to media reports.
He will succeed Dr. Ijaz, who has been assigned to Belarus. Lt. In addition, the Foreign Office has designated Mohammad Samiur Rehman Khan as the Ambassador to Switzerland. Syed Haider Shah, the Additional Secretary for the United Nations and OIC, will represent Pakistan in the Netherlands.
Suljuk Mustansar Tarar, currently in the Netherlands, has been reassigned to Indonesia, taking over from Amir Khurram Rathore, who has completed his tenure.
Furthermore, Amir Shaukat, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, has been transferred to Egypt following the retirement of Ambassador Sajid Iqbal.
Previously, it was reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Foreign Office to promptly seek an ambassadorial role for Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Aamer in Gulf nations after his potential appointment to the United Arab Emirates faced obstacles and was ultimately abandoned.
