A major upgrade to Pakistan’s major airports security structure is in process.
Authorities have approved the installation of advanced scanning machines across these airports.
According to the sources, a survey has been completed by the CAA, the PAA and the ASF to identify main locations and technical requirements for the new equipment at major airports in Pakistan.
The aim of the new and advanced security system is to optimize the passenger and baggage screening process. The new technology is said to speed up luggage checks while strengthening security protocols. The installation and commissioning of the scanners is underway.
The CAA, PAA and ASF will jointly monitor the integration of the scanners to ensure seamless installation. The upgrades are expected to reduce long queues at screening points and ensure swift and efficient baggage inspection.
The project covers major gateways such as Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore. The nationwide project has been valued at billions of rupees.
According to authorities, the advanced system is aimed at preventing all forms of smuggling through air travel.
The scanning machines will be installed in strict compliance with international civil aviation standards, aligning Pakistan’s airports with screening practices at the airports globally.
