The mysterious death of a minor girl in Rawalpindi's Mandra area was resolved when her maternal uncle was arrested for allegedly killing her before sexual assault. However, the suspect died in a police encounter on Monday night while trying to escape with accomplices.
The victim's father, Nauman Farzan Masih, told the police that they were celebrating Easter at home when seven-year-old Shafaq went outside to play but did not return to her home.
When Nauman reached the top floor of an under-construction house in the same neighborhood, he saw his daughter lying dead in a room.
The girl lay dead with injuries on her forehead and neck, while she was half-naked.
According to the police, Shafaq’s maternal uncle lured her away by promising that he would get her snacks and took her to an under-construction site.
A case had been registered under Section 364A for the kidnapping of the girl, Section 376(iii) for the alleged rape of the girl, and Section 302 for murder.
Subsequently, a special task force arrested the deceased's maternal uncle, suspected of sexually assaulting and strangling his niece to death.

The police said that the suspect was a drug addict, and while he was being taken to recover the weapon used in the murder, his accomplices attempted to free him from police custody.
The resistance resulted in an exchange of gunfire between police and suspects, leaving the main suspect injured. He succumbed to his wounds while being transported to the hospital.
The case of the incident was registered at the Mandra police station on the complaint of the father of the deceased girl, stating that the girl's body was found in the washroom on the top floor of a house under construction in a 5-marla scheme on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
Police officials said that the girl’s postmortem had been conducted and the samples were sent to the laboratory for forensics, and further investigation is underway.
