Mian Channu man booked for using mosque loudspeakers to announce child's birth

Punjab police have registered a case against a man for using mosque loudspeakers to announce the birth of his child in Mian Channu.
According to officials, a local resident named Tasawwur made an announcement from Gulzar-e-Madina Mosque to celebrate his child’s birth. The police filed the case under the Punjab Sound System Act.
The 2015 Punjab Sound System Act prohibits unnecessary or excessively loud use of sound systems in the province. Violators can face up to six months in prison and fines ranging from Rs25,000 to 100,000.

In a similar case in October 2025, police in Okara filed a case against a rickshaw driver for playing a song by popular singer Naseebo Lal at high volume. Authorities said that action was also taken under the Punjab Sound System Act.
A police spokesperson said that violations of the law will not be tolerated and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found breaking the rules.
