Mir Raza case: Second post-mortem report rules out suicide, confirms gunshot death

The investigation team probing the Mir Raza case has received the final report of the second post-mortem examination conducted following the exhumation of his body, Sindh Police said on Monday.

Ali, a 25-year-old Karachi-based businessman, was found dead with a gunshot wound in Gulistan-i-Jauhar last month, a day after he was reported missing on July 28.

The case has been a controversial one, as police had initially built the case around the possibility that he died by suicide, but questions were later raised by post-mortem findings.

A spokesperson for the Sindh Police said the report was being made public in view of developments in the investigation and in the interest of the public.

According to the spokesperson, the investigation team is reviewing the findings of the report and will determine the further course of the probe in light of the evidence.

The final second post-mortem report states that Mir Raza died from a gunshot wound and that the evidence examined in the case is not consistent with suicide.

The report was prepared on the basis of chemical analysis conducted after the exhumation, forensic findings and other evidence collected during the investigation, according to the Sindh Police spokesperson.

The investigation team is expected to assess the findings of the report alongside other available evidence as it proceeds with the case.
