The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Ammara Athar directed the wardens on Wednesday to issue a challan of Rs2,000 to motorcyclists who fail to wear a helmet.

The CTO vowed not to allow motorbike riders on the roads of the city without helmets.

The officer also barred helmet violators from entering the main arteries of the city, including Mall Road and others.

The traffic official has also announced starting a crackdown against violators on all important highways, including Canal Road and Jail Road.

"Whoever is seen riding a motorcycle without a helmet will be fined Rs2,000," Athar said while speaking to media.

She said that motorcyclists would start complying when they are issued a Rs2,000 fine for disregarding the helmet-wearing requirement.
