The leadership of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) strongly condemned the crackdown on sit-ins held in Karachi to show solidarity with the people of Parachinar. The party announced to organise further sit-ins in the city and expand their scope across Sindh.

In a press conference at Numaish Chowrangi, Allama Syed Hassan Zafar Naqvi pledged to continue the sit-ins in Karachi and urged the nation to join in solidarity by organising sit-ins throughout Sindh.

“Our peaceful protest should not be mistaken for weakness,” Allama Naqvi stated.

MWM disdain for the actions of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which claims to be the "champion of democracy," calling the shelling and baton charges on peaceful protesters in Karachi "a shameful act."

Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi further stated that the PPP must take full responsibility for the violence against the protesters and that the party will face the political consequences of this "fascist behavior and unlawful decisions."

Earlier today (Tuesday), Police and Rangers in Karachi took action against the sit-ins that had continued for eight days over the Tal-Parachinar Highway closure. The protesters were dispersed from six points after the police crackdown, while demonstrations continued at four other points.

During the police crackdown, Abbas Town became a battlefield. The police fired heavily, while the cops and protesters threw stones at each other.

The police demolished the sit-in tent, but the road could not be completely restored.

Despite police action to disperse the protesters, they gathered again at Karachi’s Kamran Chowrangi and chanted slogans against police over their crackdown. However, the contingents of police and rangers were stationed at both spots.

The traffic police spokesperson stated that both the entrance and existing’ tracks of Jauhar Chorwangi, Jauhar Mor, and Five Star Chowrangi were opened for traffic.

However, the sit-ins ended at Shamsuddin Azeemi Road of Surjani Town, Shahrah-e-Pakistan of Sohrab Goth and Golimar Chowrangi to Nazimabad No 2 and traffic was restored at the said locations.

Moreover, a protest sit-in near Samama on University Road also ended.
