The National Assembly on Friday approved a resolution to increase the upper age limit for candidates appearing in the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination from 30 to 35 years, starting from 2026.
The resolution, moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, was presented through a suspension of rules and passed without objection.
Alongside the age relaxation, the resolution also allows candidates to attempt the competitive exam up to five times—an increase from the current four-attempt limit.
Lawmakers called on the government to implement the approved relaxations without delay, enabling prospective candidates to plan accordingly.
The CSS examination serves as a key academic route to high-level federal positions in various sectors including administration, foreign affairs, and customs.
The revision is intended to provide greater accessibility and preparation time for a wider range of applicants.
