The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new service in Karachi to provide greater convenience to residents by reducing long waits and queues.

Starting on Monday, the service will allow citizens to request the issuance and renewal of national identity cards, among other services, according to officials from NADRA.

Initially, three bikers will be deployed in Karachi to offer the service, with one bike also serving residents in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas. The NADRA biker fleet is expected to expand by an additional ten bikes in the coming days.

Representatives will carry the necessary processing equipment in backpacks, and citizens opting for at-home service will incur an extra fee of Rs1,000, which includes Rs825 for the service and Rs175 for delivery charges.

In other developments, NADRA has announced that it will shut down its website and replace it with a mobile app. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi explained that the move aims to combat fraudsters who created fake identification documents through counterfeit websites to misuse citizens' personal information.

In addition, NADRA has recently set up 4-hour passport counters at Mega Centres nationwide.

In line with Interior Minister Naqvi's directives, 10 passport processing counters have been established at NADRA Mega Centres in Karachi’s Nazimabad and Site areas, specifically at Siemens Chowrangi, offering 24/7 service to citizens.
