A three-day protest by lawyers in Hyderabad ended after the police officer they were protesting against took a leave of absence, as confirmed by a lawyer's leader on Saturday.

The protest, which caused traffic disruptions, was sparked by a dispute between lawyers and police following an FIR filed against a lawyer for possessing a hooter and a fancy number plate.

Lawyers had demanded the transfer of SSP Farrukh Lanjar, and their protest ended after the Sindh Police offered to form a judicial commission.

Hyderabad DIG Tariq Razak Dharejo confirmed that SSP Lanjar had taken a leave, and SSP Tando Mohammad Khan was assigned additional duties.

The incident that triggered the protest involved police stopping lawyer Ali Raza for his vehicle’s tinted windows and number plate. Lawyers alleged police overreach in handling the situation.

The protest also saw solidarity from other regions, with demonstrations held in Sehwan, Dadu, and Karachi.

A number of police officers in Hyderabad applied for leave during the unrest. Political figures like Haleem Adil Sheikh and Zain Shah participated in the protest, voicing support for the lawyers’ cause.
