KARACHI: Police have ordered an inquiry into alleged medical negligence at a hospital in Nazimabad after the husband of a female patient approached authorities, claiming that his wife suffered serious complications during treatment.
Muhammad Rashid, the patient’s husband, filed a complaint against Hamdard Hospital, seeking an investigation into the alleged conduct of the doctors, medical staff and hospital administration involved in his wife’s treatment.
According to the complaint, the patient’s condition deteriorated during treatment, causing her severe distress and allegedly putting her life at risk.
The family has accused the hospital staff of failing to follow prescribed standard operating procedures.
Rashid has called for a detailed investigation to determine whether any lapse or negligence occurred during the patient’s treatment and whether the actions of the medical staff contributed to the deterioration of her condition.
The complaint also seeks an inquiry into the role of the relevant doctors, medical personnel and hospital administration.
Police authorities have directed officials to conduct an impartial and fact-based inquiry into the allegations.
The investigation will determine whether any negligence occurred and, if so, identify those responsible.
The family submitted the patient’s medical file and an initial medico-legal report along with the complaint.
Police officials said the inquiry report must clearly establish the facts, findings and recommendations.
They added that further action would be taken in accordance with the law once the investigation is completed.
