NDMA confirms 221 monsoon rain-related deaths across Pakistan

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported on Tuesday that at least 221 people have lost their lives and more than 500 have been injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan since the onset of this year’s monsoon season on June 26.
According to an official spokesperson speaking to AFP, the fatalities include 104 children and 40 women.
The deadly toll continues to rise, with five more casualties, including three children and two men, recorded in the last 24 hours. Additionally, ten individuals sustained injuries during the same period.
The NDMA’s updated report reveals extensive damage to infrastructure, with over 804 homes completely destroyed.
Punjab province has been hit the hardest, where 135 lives were lost and 470 people were injured. In addition, 168 houses have been partially damaged and 24 have been completely destroyed.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also suffered significant losses, with 40 deaths and 69 injuries. The province recorded 142 houses partially damaged and 78 completely collapsed due to heavy rains.
In Sindh, the NDMA confirmed 22 fatalities and 40 injuries. The monsoon rains have partially damaged 54 houses and destroyed another 33 completely.

Balochistan reported 16 deaths and four injuries, with 56 homes partially damaged and eight completely demolished.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, three people were injured, and the region experienced considerable property damage, with 71 homes partially damaged and 66 completely destroyed.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir saw one death and six injuries. The NDMA reported that 75 homes in the region were partially damaged and 17 completely wrecked.
