New Pakistani passports to include mother’s name alongside father’s

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has announced the introduction of new Pakistani passports that will now include the mother’s name alongside the father’s.

According to the department, the updated passports incorporate modern security features to enhance authenticity and protection against forgery. The visa pages will also feature images of historical landmarks from various provinces, highlighting the country’s cultural and architectural diversity.

The printing of the new passport booklets has commenced following approval from the Ministry of Interior.

Officials said the updates have been made in line with the principles of modernization and inclusivity. However, apart from the newly added features, there will be no other changes to the existing passport design or data structure, the department clarified.
