NICVD Karachi doctors successfully remove bullet from 12-year-old boy’s heart

Doctors at Karachi’s National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) have successfully removed a bullet lodged in the heart of a 12-year-old boy from Khuzdar, Balochistan, through emergency surgery.

The boy was initially taken to a local hospital after accidentally sustaining a gunshot wound in Khuzdar. However, due to his critical condition, he was brought to Karachi for further treatment.

The child was eventually admitted to the Pediatric Emergency Department at NICVD Karachi, where an emergency echocardiogram confirmed the presence of a bullet in his heart.

Given the boy’s critical condition, doctors shifted him to the operating theatre within minutes.

The complex surgery lasted approximately two hours and was performed under the supervision of Professor Sohail Khan Bangash.

According to Professor Sohail Khan Bangash, the child was brought to the hospital in an extremely critical condition, prompting the medical team to immediately opt for emergency surgery without any delay.
