An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants on Monday for former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, his spouse Bushra Bibi, and 94 other individuals linked to a recent PTI protest in the capital.
The warrant list features notable figures such as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Sher Afzal Marwat, Khalid Khurshid, Faisal Javed, and several Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) including Abdul Latif, Fateh Malik, Ali Nasir, and provincial minister Riaz Khan.
The protest, termed a “final call” by PTI, occurred on November 26 at D-Chowk in Islamabad, following a large-scale march initiated by PTI supporters demanding the release of Imran Khan.
The demonstration was subsequently dispersed by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), with PTI alleging that at least 12 individuals lost their lives during the operation and that hundreds of protesters were detained.
In relation to the protest, police presented a list of 96 suspects to the court, which included former President Arif Alvi, former Speaker Asad Qaiser, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, and various other PTI leaders.
The ATC Judge approved the police's request and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for all 96 suspects associated with the protest.
Furthermore, the police have secured warrants for several prominent PTI members, including Ali Zaman, Pir Mansoor, Mian Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Sohail Afridi, and Shehram Khan Tarakai.
The list of accused also encompasses former military personnel such as Brigadier (retd) Mushtaq Allah, Major (retd) Rashid Tipu, along with individuals like Zulfi Bukhari, Salman Akram Raja, Murad Saeed, Rauf Hassan, Khadijah Shah, Zartaj Gul, and Alia Hamza.
