Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Friday blasted PTI founder Imran Khan for peddling an “anti-army” narrative that he said has moved beyond political disagreement and turned into a “threat to national security.”
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, the DG ISPR referred to "threat to the country’s security that the military could no longer ignore.
Without naming the former prime minister, he said that this threat comes from a "delusional person who has become captive of his own ego". "His personal ego and disappointment has grown to such a level that he believes that the world would stop to exist without him," he added.
The head of the military's media wing went on to describe the PTI founder as "mentally ill, delusional and narcissist".
As the DG ISPR's press ended, social media users, including journalists, lawyers, and politicians weighed in with strong reactions.
Here's what they said:
DGISPR presser. There is nothing left to imagination or speculation as to what awaits Imran Khan and his party in the days ahead. This is the straightening of the guns. What would PML-N and PPP as parties do? What does the Shehbaz govt do? It's a with-us-or against-us moment for…

In an aggressive press conference, DG ISPR called Imran Khan mentally unstable, delusional, and a narcissist, alleging that his party is working at the behest of Delhi and attacking the military as part of agenda.

DG ISPR has a point when he says that the propaganda by people like Imran Riaz Khan taking a General's picture and claiming that he has been appointed as the VCOAS is ridiculous.

This would be unacceptable in any country in the world.

Khan cannot blame anyone for his downfall except himself. What a shame.

The DG ISPR’s presser made one point unmistakably clear: political disagreements must never evolve into narratives that undermine national institutions. Constructive criticism is welcome, but attacking the armed forces for personal or political gain crosses a dangerous line.… pic.twitter.com/Km2WiegQvY

Refreshing to see DG ISPR answer tough questions by journalists like @_Mansoor_Ali who did not mince their words and asked pertinent questions about historical precedents — Such engagement with the media creates an open environment where mutual learning and growth takes place.

Excellent question by @_Mansoor_Ali. Asks DG ISPR how are allegations against Imran Khan any different to ones made against Fatima Jinnah, Nawaz Sharif, Zulfiqar Bhutto,Benazir Bhutto...which army took U-turns later on? DG ISPR: none of the above have done what Imran Khan has…
