Today marks the 10th anniversary of the ultimate sacrifice made by 15-year-old Aitzaz Hassan in 2014. His family still awaits the fulfillment of promises made by the government upon his martyrdom.
The brave teenager from Ibrahimzai village in Hangu saved hundreds of lives when he stopped a suicide bomber from attacking his school.
Aitzaz’s heroic act not only safeguarded his schoolmates and staff but also earned him the Sitara-e-Shujaat, one of the highest civilian awards for bravery in Pakistan.
While Aitzaz was rightfully declared a national hero, However, his family claims that the financial support and memorial pledged by the government in his honor remain unfulfilled.
Speaking to local media, Aitzaz’s father, Mujahid Ali, expressed his disappointment, saying, “Aitzaz was not only my child but a child of the nation. Unfortunately, the promises the government made to us have not been fulfilled, not even a single one.”
Aitzaz’s classmates also fondly remembered his selfless nature and called upon the government to officially commemorate his death anniversary.
