The naval chiefs of Pakistan and Azerbaijan vowed to deepen and expand bilateral defence relationship.

According to ISPR, Chief of Naval Staff, Naveed Ashraf met with Commander of Azerbaijan Naval Forces Admiral Shahin Mammadov at the Naval Headquarters, Islamabad. Both leaders talked about enhancing cooperation on training, defence engagement and regional naval security.

Moreover, Admiral Mammadov briefed on the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing projects and initiatives.

ISPR reported that Admiral Mammadov received a Guard of Honour upon arrival and later laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument in Islamabad.

“Pakistan and Azerbaijan share longstanding brotherly relations marked by close naval cooperation. The visit of commander Azerbaijan naval forces will further enhance bilateral collaboration between the two countries in general and navies in particular,” ISPR added.

Pakistan’s CDF and COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir was honoured with a prestigious war medal by Azerbaijan’s defence minister, last year in August.
