Security forces have killed five Indian-backed militants during an intelligence-based operation against Fitna al-Khawarij in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Pakistan Army Major Adil Zaman was martyred in an exchange of fire.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces carried out an intelligence-led operation on 29 December in the Khar area of Bajaur following reports about the presence of militants affiliated with the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij.
During the operation, effective retaliatory action by security forces resulted in the killing of five Indian-supported terrorists.
ISPR stated that during an intense firefight with the militants, 36-year-old Major Adil Zaman, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely. He was leading his team from the forward positions at the time of the operation.
According to the military spokesperson, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain militants.
The killed Khawarij were involved in multiple terrorist attacks against security forces and law-enforcement agencies, as well as in the killing of innocent civilians.
Clearance operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored militants.
