Pakistan on Thursday eased a week-long bottleneck at the Wagah border by allowing 150 stranded Afghan trucks carrying goods for India to cross border, confirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A statement issued by Foreign Ministry on Thursday stated that the permission was granted after acknowledging a request made by the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad on April 28.

The development came when Pakistan suspended all diplomatic and trading ties with Pakistan, including cargo coming and going from third countries.

“The ministry has the honour to inform that in view of the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the government of Pakistan has decided to permit stranded Afghan trucks carrying goods in transit to India, which entered Pakistan before April 25, 2025, to cross Wagah Border for delivering the goods,” the document read.

It also added, “The list of 150 trucks provided by the esteemed embassy has been transmitted to the concerned authorities.”

However, the details of other stranded trucks, if any, will be shared soon.

Pakistan announced the suspension of trade and closure of airspaces with India last Thursday in response to India's recent aggressive actions following a deadly attack in Indian-held Kashmir.

Pakistan also firmly rejected New Delhi's unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, warning that any attempt to block the flow of water allocated to Pakistan would be considered an "act of war."
