Pakistan hockey team players meet COAS Asim Munir at GHQ

Praising the national hockey team for their remarkable performance in the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir expressed on Friday that they have brought immense pride to the nation.
In a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was revealed that the army chief made these comments during a meeting with the Pakistan hockey team at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi today.
During the meeting, the COAS lauded the team’s exceptional performance, stating, "The hockey team has brought immense pride to the nation, and we are dedicated to offering them full support to ensure their continued success."
General Munir also extended his best wishes to the players for their future endeavors.
The ISPR added that Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Tariq Hussain and other PHF officials were also present at the meeting.
The PHF president expressed gratitude to the army chief for the opportunity to meet and engage with the team.
Notably, Pakistan qualified for the Azlan Shah Cup 2024 final for the first time in 13 years. However, the national team lost to Japan 4-1 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regular time. Despite the loss, the team won hearts with their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
