The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly condemned the use of violence by security forces against its protesters in Islamabad, alleging that dozens were killed and many others injured during the crackdown.
Taking to its official X account, the party shared harrowing footage of last night’s clashes in the capital, where thousands of supporters gathered to demand the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail.
One video depicted PTI workers fleeing amidst heavy shelling and what the party described as "relentless straight firing" by police and Rangers.
The PTI claimed that hundreds of individuals were injured in the violent confrontation.
“Pakistan is experiencing its darkest hour since the massacre in East Pakistan in 1971. The rulers have learned nothing from history and are prepared to destroy the country to cling to their illegitimate power,” the post read.
“With hundreds dead and countless injured, the interior minister’s threat to k!ll and then the declaration of "victory" over slaughtered innocents is enough evidence of the regime’s inhumanity,” it added.
