Pakistan PM tells Iranian president, country ready to act as “honest and sincere facilitator” to support dialogue and regional stability

Within hours of an Iranian delegation leaving Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif talked on Saturday to the Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and said that Pakistan was dedicated to being an “honest and sincere facilitator”.

“Pakistan is committed to playing a facilitating role to achieve enduring peace and stability in the region, which is also our sincere endeavor,” the premier stated in his post on the social media platform X. He had a “constructive and warm” conversation with President Pezeshkian about the evolving situation in the region.

“Pakistani delegation was pleased to receive a warm and engaging visit from the Iranian foreign minister in Islamabad today.” “I reiterated that, with the help of our friends and partners, Pakistan will continue to strive towards playing the role of an honest and sincere facilitator,” he mentioned.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the discussion lasted for 50 minutes, during which both leaders exchanged their opinions on the “current regional situation and the ongoing efforts for promoting peace and stability in the region.”

The PMO further stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz was grateful for the involvement of the senior Iranian delegation in the Islamabad Talks, which were held on April 11-12.

Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz was pleased with the involvement of the Iranian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Araghchi in Islamabad.
