Pakistan Railways has announced plans to operate five special trains for Eid-ul-Azha, following instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Federal Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi, has approved the schedule, aiming to facilitate Eid travel across major cities.

According to a spokesperson from Pakistan Railways, the first special train will depart from Karachi for Lahore on June 2 at 1:00 PM. The second train, operating from Quetta to Peshawar, will depart on June 3 at 10:00 AM.

Later on the same day, a third special train will leave Lahore for Karachi at 5:00 PM. A fourth train will depart from Karachi for Rawalpindi at 8:00 PM, while the fifth and final train will set off from Karachi Cantt on June 4 at 5:30 PM.

The spokesperson emphasized that the purpose of these special trains is to ensure safe, comfortable, and quality travel for passengers during the Eid holidays. Pakistan Railways aims to assist people in reuniting with their families during this festive season.

In a related development, Eid-ul-Azha is expected to be celebrated on June 7, 2025. Astronomical data confirms that the sighting of the Zilhajj moon on May 27 is unlikely, with the new moon expected to be born at 08:02 PM PST on that day. As a result, the first day of Zilhajj will likely fall on May 29, leading to Eid-ul-Azha being observed on June 7.
