Pakistan rejects claims of allowing US military use of its territory against Iran

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has strongly rejected claims circulating on social media alleging that Pakistan is being used as a base or transit route for a potential US military strike on Iran, calling the reports false, misleading and part of a disinformation campaign.

In a statement issued through its official fact-checking platform, the ministry said the allegations originated from propaganda-linked social media accounts based in Afghanistan and India, which were spreading unverified claims about US military aircraft allegedly operating from Pakistani airbases.

The ministry dismissed assertions that American reconnaissance, refuelling or cargo aircraft had landed at Dalbandin and Pasni airbases, or that Pakistan was facilitating unusual flight activity near Iranian airspace. It said there was no factual basis for these claims.

Clarifying the situation, the ministry stated that no credible evidence exists of US intelligence or aerial refuelling aircraft being deployed in Pakistan, adding that no reputable international media organisation has reported or confirmed any such activity involving Pakistani territory.

While acknowledging reports of increased movement of US refuelling aircraft, the ministry explained that these deployments were linked to European bases, not Pakistan, amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

The ministry reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing and publicly stated position against any military action targeting Iran, noting that Islamabad has previously condemned foreign strikes on Iranian territory.

This stance, it said, directly contradicts claims that Pakistan is facilitating hostile operations against Iran.
