Pakistan’s passport has once again been ranked among the least powerful in the world, placing fourth from the bottom in the latest Henley Passport Index. This is the fifth consecutive year it has held this position.
According to the 2025 report released this week, Pakistan was ranked 103rd out of 106 countries, sharing its position with Yemen. Only Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan were placed lower in the global ranking of passport strength.
The index, which measures the number of destinations passport holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance, shows that Pakistani and Yemeni citizens can travel visa-free to just 33 countries. Iraq’s passport allows access to 31 destinations, Syria’s to 28, and Afghanistan’s to 26.
Last year, Pakistan ranked 100th on the index, offering visa-free access to 32 destinations.
At the other end of the list, Singapore retained its title as the world’s most powerful passport, granting its citizens visa-free entry to 193 destinations. South Korea followed with access to 190, while Japan ranked third with 189 destinations.
Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, and Switzerland tied for fourth place with visa-free access to 188 countries, while Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands shared fifth position, each allowing travel to 187 destinations without a visa.
For the first time, the United States has fallen out of the world’s top ten, slipping to 12th place alongside Malaysia, with visa-free access to 180 destinations. The United Kingdom also saw a decline, dropping from sixth to eighth place — its lowest-ever position — despite once leading the global ranking in 2015.
