Pakistan's tallest man Zia Rasheed died in Vehari at the age of 30 after battling an illness for a long time, it emerged on Tuesday.

A large crowd, including many social and political figures, paid their respects at his funeral.

At 15, Zia was crowned Pakistan's tallest man. However, a knee-related disease began causing him pain by the time he reached 20.

His fight with his illness worsened due to the lack of financial means and the government's failure to provide him with proper medical care. He suffered in pain for years without the treatment he needed.

Rasheed had appealed to the government for financial assistance with his medical treatment.

A fall from the stairs last year worsened his pain and exacerbated his existing illness, leading to his untimely demise while battling the disease.

He had mentioned in an interview with APP in December 2018 that he was undergoing taekwondo training for his fitness and self-defense.

He had completed his Matric and expressed his desire to continue his studies, but financial limitations and travel difficulties made it challenging.

According to Zia Rasheed, his height was eight feet and three inches and believed himself to be the world's second tallest man.
