Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has taken immediate notice of the growing financial pressure on the public caused by the increase in global oil prices amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and has announced the launch of a special relief scheme.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the government is fully aware of the difficulties being faced by the public and the additional financial burden resulting from the increase in petrol prices. He said that the government would not leave the people alone in these difficult circumstances and would provide maximum possible relief in the current situation.

Taking immediate notice of the rising burden on the public due to the recent tensions in the Middle East and the subsequent increase in international oil prices, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has launched a special relief scheme.

Under the scheme, users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws, and small cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc will receive a relief of Rs100 per litre on petrol.

According to the details, motorcycle, rickshaw, Qingqi, and other two- or three-wheeler users will receive a discount of Rs100 per litre on a maximum of 20 litres of petrol per month. This means eligible users can receive relief of up to Rs2,000 per month.

Similarly, owners of cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc will receive a discount of Rs100 per litre on up to 30 litres of petrol per month, allowing them to receive maximum monthly relief of Rs3,000.

According to the Prime Minister, the scheme will be implemented in phases. In Islamabad, the facility will become effective from the night between Monday and Tuesday, while it will be extended to other parts of the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The government has also started the registration process for the relief scheme from today. A special awareness campaign will be launched to inform the public about the registration procedure and other necessary details.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also thanked the provincial governments for providing the required information regarding motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles and for cooperating in the registration process.
