PM Shehbaz said Pakistan had played a “very sincere role” in efforts to ease tensions between the US and Iran. He said this as he held high-level talks with Chinese PM Li Qiang. The talks were focused on regional peace, economic cooperation and strategic partnership.

During a meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting stability in the region.

PM Shehbaz stressed that the world was passing through a “very critical moment” and called for collective international efforts to restore peace.

The PM revealed that Pakistan had remained actively engaged in diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran.

He said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had recently visited Tehran for consultations with Iranian officials before arriving in Beijing for the ongoing engagements.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar have also remained in contact with key regional stakeholders to support peace initiatives.

PM Shehbaz warned that the regional crisis was affecting both global and domestic economies, particularly oil-importing nations like Pakistan.

He thanked the Chinese leadership for supporting peace efforts and acknowledged Beijing’s backing of President Xi Jinping’s diplomatic proposals aimed at restoring regional stability.
