Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a salary increase for Islamabad police during his visit to the Police Lines Headquarters on Friday, acknowledging their dedication, particularly in the face of recent political protests.
The decision is seen as a recognition of the officers' tireless efforts to maintain law and order.
During the visit, the Prime Minister also met with the family of Constable Abdul Hameed, who was martyred during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests, offering his condolences and commending the officers for their service in challenging conditions.
According to Geo News, Prime Minister Sharif assured that families of martyrs who had not yet received the full benefits of the Shaheed Package would be duly compensated.
He instructed officials to expedite this process and emphasized the importance of speeding up the construction of the National Police Hospital.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Atta Tarar, and other Islamabad officials accompanied the Prime Minister during his visit.
The salary increase has been welcomed as a morale boost for the police force, recognizing their sacrifices and contributions to public safety.
This announcement comes at a critical time, as security forces continue to play a vital role in ensuring public safety amidst ongoing political unrest in the country.
