The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that a powerful monsoon system is expected to impact the upper and central regions of the country from July 15 to 17, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and hailstorms to various areas.
According to the Met Office, widespread rain is expected to begin Monday night and continue through July 17 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and multiple cities across Punjab.
Karachi is also likely to experience thunderstorms and rainfall from July 14 to 16.
Authorities have warned of potential urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, and the risk of flash floods in streams and nullahs. The relevant departments have been directed to take preemptive measures and ensure proper drainage to minimize disruptions.
As the monsoon system intensifies, residents have been urged to remain cautious and adhere to safety advisories issued by local administrations.
Meanwhile, rainfall in Islamabad and Rawalpindi provided some relief from the heat, with thunderstorms and showers accompanied by cloud cover over the Margalla Hills.
In Sindh, heavy downpours in Hyderabad led to urban flooding, submerging roads and low-lying areas under rainwater.
