PMD warns Karachi,Sindh of rain, cold spell as westerly wave hits

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has flagged a weather warning regarding the potential influence of a westerly weather system, which is expected to hit the province of Sindh from Thursday, bringing rains along with a marked decrease in temperatures.
This is according to the weather forecast made on Wednesday by the Duty Forecasting Officer in the behalf of the Chief Meteorologist.
It appears that Karachi Division can expect light to moderate showers and thunder showers on Thursday, January 22.
The forecaster said: “Humidity in Karachi is likely to increase between 80-90pc on Thursday morning when the rains are likely to start.” Then, after the passing of the westerly wave, the north-westerly winds from Balochistan would start affecting the city.
The weather forecaster also warned about the cold wave, and the chances are that Karachi will face a cold night on Friday, the 23rd of January.
The minimum temperatures are likely to decrease by 7 to 9 degrees Celsius in association with dry north-westerly winds and a substantial decrease in humidity in the evening to 15%.
