A Polish woman travelled to Sargodha to get married to a young man after the two developed a relationship online.
She embraced Islam before the marriage and has adopted the name Maryam, according to a media report.
Matiullah, a resident of Bhalwal’s Manzoor Hayat area, said that he and the Polish woman became friends on social media, and the friendship eventually turned into affection.
She recently travelled to Pakistan and appeared before Judge Samar Hayat at the Bhalwal Family Court, where she formally married Matiullah.

Before the marriage, she visited Jamia Masjid Hamid Shah and accepted Islam in the presence of noted religious scholar Qazi Nigah Mustafa Chishti, who named her Maryam.
Maryam said she had come to Pakistan of her own free will, adding that her decision to convert to Islam and marry Matiullah was entirely personal.
“I want to live with my husband. There is no pressure on me. Accepting Islam and getting married were my own choices,” she stated.
