President Alvi to face multiple constitution violation charges, says Bilawal

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed apprehension regarding President Arif Alvi's actions, asserting that he would be subject to legal scrutiny for "violating constitutional obligations."

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Bilawal highlighted two main issues. One concerns the President's contentious decision to dissolve the assembly amidst a no-confidence motion, while the other revolves around his failure to convene the National Assembly session as mandated by the constitution.

Bilawal emphasized that President Arif Alvi's conduct exhibits a blatant disregard for constitutional duties. He stressed that if the President neglects his responsibilities, it becomes the Speaker's duty to uphold constitutional principles, emphasizing that the presidency transcends the individual holding the office.

Urging adherence to constitutional procedures, Bilawal ruled out the option of impeachment, proposing instead that a new president be elected through established electoral channels.

He reiterated that the constitution mandates a National Assembly session on February 29 under all circumstances.

In terms of political reconciliation, Bilawal underscored the importance of including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the process initiated by Asif Zardari.

He emphasized the need to address historical injustices, citing the forthcoming Bhutto reference decision as a crucial step towards closure.

Bilawal urged politicians to prioritize mutual respect and cooperation, warning against undermining democratic institutions.
