Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) alleged that over 20 workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) vandalised the Shaukat Khanum School in Karachi’s Korangi area. Videos circulating on social media showed the school’s furniture destroyed ahead of its inauguration.

The school was established by PTI’s Town Chairman Gohar Khattak in honor of former prime minister Imran Khan’s mother, Shaukat Khanum.

According to PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman, slogans against Shaukat Khanum were written on the school's walls, while MQM workers allegedly broke doors and windows.

Expressing outrage over the incident, Zaman claimed that the attack was politically motivated, stating, “The school was targeted because of its association with Imran Khan. I respect his mother as my own.”

The PTI leader called on Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Mustafa Kamal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and the rest of the MQM leadership to take action against those responsible.

Zaman also urged Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to take notice of the vandalism, criticising the state of education in Sindh. “The education system is already in shambles due to government negligence. Instead of improving schools, they are being attacked,” he said.

The incident occurred on the day of the school’s inauguration, when people had gathered to visit the institution.
