Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership was reportedly persuaded by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to hold a sit-in at Sangjani, but former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, insisted on marching to D Chowk.

“Interior Minister Moshin Naqvi provided a helicopter to Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar and Barrister Saif to go Hasan Abdal, approximately 45 kilometres from D-Chowk, to persuade Bushra Bibi not to move forward to the spot,” The News report said.

Bushra Bibi's caravan had already moved forward, when they reached Hasan Abdal, it added.

Later Naqvi talked to Ali Amin Gandapur and opposition leader Omar Ayub, but these leaders also appeared helpless, as the march was being controlled by Bushra Bibi completely, and she did not agree to step back.

The Interior Minister also allowed and assisted them to meet Imran Khan and convince him to stage a sit-in at Sangjani, on the outskirts of Islamabad.

Khan agreed, and his message was conveyed to Bushra Bibi by some of the leaders, including Gandpur and Ayub, but she insisted on continuing her protest march to D-Chowk, Islamabad.

Without quoting the names, the sources said some of the PTI leaders appreciated Mohsin Naqvi’s role in assisting them towards a negotiated solution and leading them to formal dialogues, which did not happen.
