In a significant development for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party's senior leader and former Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, was released from prison on Tuesday.

The Kot Lakhpat Jail administration in Lahore confirmed Elahi's release, following which he returned to his residence, Zahoor Elahi Palace in Gujrat.

Upon his release, Elahi expressed his gratitude through a statement issued by PTI’s Central Media Department. He credited his resilience during detention to divine support, stating, "I thank Allah Almighty for honoring me. Allah gave me the strength to remain steadfast," reflecting on his unwavering resolve during challenging times.

Elahi extended his thanks to the judges who upheld "truth and justice," facilitating his release. He also expressed deep appreciation for the prayers and support of his well-wishers, saying, "I am grateful to everyone who prayed for me and supported me during this difficult period."

Addressing the difficulties faced by the people of Gujrat, Elahi highlighted the injustices and oppression they endured. "The people of Gujrat had to suffer many injustices and oppression," he remarked, emphasizing the hardships experienced in the region. He also raised concerns about electoral malpractice, asserting, "Our mandate was stolen in Gujrat."

Furthermore, Elahi made it clear that he would not engage in dialogue with his brother Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s children until their mandate was restored. "There will be no talks with Shujaat’s children until our mandate is returned," he declared firmly.
