Expressing disappointment with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) top brass, senior leader Shaukat Yousufzai demanded an immediate inquiry over an abrupt ending of the protest at D Chowk.
Speaking to Geo News, Yousafzai said party leadership could not convey the clear message that caused the end of a three-day protest that began on November 24.
He said that it was widely expected that the government would respond if the crowd advanced toward D-Chowk, “Despite the government's offer of negotiation, no talks were initiated, and the rally moved forward to D Chowk.”
Following the response of security forces, no one, including Ali Amin Gandapur and other leaders, had come to take charge of the protest, showing the lack of consultation and planning within the leadership that failed the march, he said.
He also noted that when the situation turned complicated, no key leaders such as Barrister Gohar, Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, and Sher Afzal Marwat were seen on the spot.
Shauakt Yousufza questioned why so many workers were mobilised if the leaders were not able to take decisive steps for the protest.
The party leader said an internal investigation should be initiated into why D-Chowk was selected as a place of protest.
