In a surprising turn of events in the Senate on Monday, PTI Senator Saifullah Abro announced his resignation as member of the upper house of Parliament after voting in favour of the 27th Constitutional Amendment in violation of the party's policy.

Addressing the house after casting his vote, Abro said: "He voted in favour of the amendment only because of the field marshal." He praised Pakistan’s victory in the May confict with India, calling it a moment of national pride.

Abro added that US President Donald Trump had shown unprecedented respect to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir, unlike any prime minister.

Abro also criticised past parliamentary practices, saying that previously such actions were undertaken by lawmaker Farogh Naseem, while under the current government, similar work was being carried out by Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, and he predicted that if PTI returns to power, Barrister Ali Zafar would also do the same.

He further recalled personal grievances, stating that during the 26th Constitutional Amendment, his wife had been detained and ten members of his family were taken into custody, yet no PTI member had raised their voice in his support.
