Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lashed out at journalist Murtaza Solangi for ‘mocking’ the deaths of party workers killed or injured during a security operation in Islamabad on November 26.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Murtaza Solangi shared a picture of a man lying in a coffin while using his phone, sarcastically referencing PTI supporters' claims about the deaths during the Islamabad protest.
“Last night some PTI dead bodies were found to be tech-savvy enough to check social media before taking a dirt nap,” his post read, alongside the controversial image.
The post sparked outrage among PTI supporters, who accused the journalist of trivialising the loss of innocent lives. Many took to social media to criticize Solangi for what they called an insensitive and distasteful comment.
Imran Khan’s supporters further stated that the image used by Solangi to mock deceased PTI workers was originally shared by an Israeli account on X to ridicule the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) revealed the details of at least 10 workers killed during a violent crackdown on protests in Islamabad, contradicting Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statement that no protesters had died.
PTI’s official Instagram account shared pictures and names of the deceased party workers. While two remain unidentified, the other victims were identified as:
Mobeen Malik (Abbottabad), Anees Satti (Murree), Muhammad Iyas (Islamabad), Shafiq Khan (DG Khan), Abdul Rasheed (Balochistan), Wali Muhammad (Pishin), Tariq Khan (Shangla), Malik Sardar Ali (Mardan).
