Punjab launches crackdown on polluting vehicles

Director General of Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, has announced a strict anti-pollution campaign starting from Lahore, warning citizens to get their vehicle exhausts tested immediately or face seizure of their vehicles.
The DG Environment said the EPA has issued a public warning, making vehicle emission and noise testing mandatory.
A zero-tolerance policy has been enforced against environmentally harmful vehicles.
He added that vehicles not verified through the Exhaust Testing System (ETS) will face legal action and possible confiscation.
Dr. Sheikh said that the EPA Punjab is fully committed to reducing urban pollution and ensuring that only environmentally compliant vehicles are allowed on the roads.
