In a groundbreaking move, the Punjab government has decided to launch Pakistan's first-ever bus service exclusively for rural women.

This initiative aims to provide safe and reliable transportation to women living in rural areas, promoting their mobility, empowerment, and access to education and healthcare .

The proposal, reviewed in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, involves a phase-wise mass transit system comprising 25 buses in remote districts.

The service will connect each rural tehsil to the district headquarters, facilitating inter-village transport and transportation for rural women.

CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of modern transportation for rural women, stating that it is their right and will boost their confidence. She also directed the provision of subsidies for female passengers in the mass transit system.

This initiative is a significant step towards promoting women's empowerment and inclusive development in Punjab.
