Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has said that improved communication among the country’s key political figures could help steer Pakistan towards greater stability, stressing that confidence-building measures were essential for progress.
Speaking on Geo News’ programme Capital Talk, Sanaullah said, “There should be contact among the five major figures of the country. If this contact takes place, the situation can move in a better direction.”
He expressed optimism about the economy, noting that positive developments were witnessed in 2025 and said he hoped 2026 would bring further economic stability.
The prime minister’s adviser also criticised social media campaigns targeting state institutions, saying accounts involved in such activity should be shut down. He said the PTI leadership could not absolve itself of responsibility by claiming it had no control over these accounts.
“PTI should disown such accounts and ensure they are closed,” he said, adding that political propaganda should be directed at rival parties, not institutions.
Commenting on PTI’s call for a wheel-jam strike on February 8, Sanaullah said the protest would fail and warned of consequences if attempts were made to block roads. He urged the party to withdraw its call.
Sanaullah identified the “five major figures” as Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, PTI founder Imran Khan, and one other personality. He said, “Until confidence-building measures are taken among these five individuals, there will be no breakthrough. Contacts between myself and Aamir Dogar will not bring a breakthrough.”
