Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif said that his party 'will gladly sit in opposition benches if PTI-sponsored candidates can show their majority in the centre'.
"We will accept them [PTI government] happily if they fail to [form government] then we will use our Constitutional and legal right," the former prime minister said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
The PML-N president insisted nothing is bigger for him than the prosperity of Pakistan.
In today’s talk, Sharif reiterated the claim of PMLN’s victory and said they had been defeated with a fake electoral process in 2018.
“Now the results brought and PMLN appeared as a leading political party, PPP followed by it, now the next process [formation of government] should begin,” he said.
Defending the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over alleged rigging, the ex-premier said PML-N’s candidates would not lose the polls if there was any tempering.
“Who doesn’t know the general elections of 2018 that had been stolen but neither we [PMLN] torched the parliament nor announced a civil disobedience movement,” he said.
He acknowledged the victory of the independent candidates and said "they could form a government if they have majority in the parliament".
The president of PMLN appreciated the institutions on their performance during elections.
