Karachi: A notification has been issued imposing a ban on rickshaw entry on 20 major roads of the city. The restriction has now been expanded to 26 central arteries across Karachi.

According to the notification, the decision to limit rickshaw movement was taken on the recommendation of the DIG Traffic.

A complete prohibition on rickshaws from Shahrah-e-Faisal to II Chundrigar Road has been enforced with immediate effect.

The Commissioner of Karachi has enforced the restriction under Section 144 to improve traffic flow.

SHOs have been directed to register cases under Section 188 against any violations.

Relevant departments and deputy commissioners have been instructed to ensure strict and immediate implementation of all directives.

The decision to ban rickshaws on major thoroughfares was taken due to public complaints, traffic congestion, and the risk of road accidents.

Additionally, the Commissioner of Karachi has imposed a complete ban on rickshaw movement on six more major roads.

As per new traffic police recommendations, the scope of the restriction has been formally expanded.

The ban on these six newly-added routes will remain in force for the same duration as the earlier notification.
