The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court granted bail to actor Sajid Hasan’s son, Sahir Hasan, on Friday in a high profile case pertaining to drug possession.

The bail was approved against the surety bonds worth Rs1 million on the petition of the accused, who has been in jail for two months.

Sahir Hasan was arrested on February 22 after Armaghan, the main accused in Mustafa Amir's kidnapping and murder case, revealed details of a widespread drug network operating in Karachi's affluent areas.

The senior police officer had stated that drugs were recovered from the possession of Sajid Hasan’s son, and the suspect was being further investigated.

During the investigation, Sahir had admitted to supplying drugs to Armaghan.

Earlier, the accused's father Sajid Hasan, described the Mustafa Amir murder case and drug supply as two separate cases and said that linking them together is like diverting attention from the original case.

He alleged that the police forced his son, Sahir Hasan, into confessing to drug smuggling, claiming that the case was part of a 'planned controversy.'

Last month, the police had submitted a challan against Sahir Hasan before the judicial magistrate Karachi, stating that the suspect confessed he received drug money on account of his father’s manager.

According to the interim challan, the manager of the accused's father was given an opportunity to present his defence and was directed to present bank statements and evidence of his innocence.

The manager has not yet submitted evidence of his innocence and bank statements.

In his statement, Sahir Hasan refuted the allegation that they personally distribute drugs in educational institutions. Instead, he claimed that college and university students place orders through online mobile apps.
