Nearly a year after a horrific incident in Sindh’s Sanghar district, a camel whose leg was cruelly chopped off by a landlord has stood again with the help of a prosthetic limb.
The female camel, affectionately named Cammie, was just a few months old when the attack occurred in June last year.
She had wandered into a landlord’s field in Mund Jamrao village in search of fodder, after which the influential man "punished" her by severing her leg.
Following the incident, Cammie was transferred to an animal shelter in Karachi, where she received medical care and treatment for her severe injury.

The cruelty sparked outrage across social media, with animal rights activists and the general public demanding justice.
The backlash prompted Sanghar SSP to take notice, leading to the registration of an FIR under Sections 429 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against unknown individuals.
While arrests were made, the suspects were later released on bail. The camel’s owner, speaking to media at the time, said he had no personal dispute with anyone and was devastated by the act.
