SC rejects second plea for early hearing of Imran Khan hospital transfer case

The SC rejected a second request by Dr Uzma Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, seeking an early hearing of her contempt petition over the alleged non-implementation of the court’s order directing his transfer to Shifa International Hospital.

The contempt petition has already been fixed for hearing on September 16 before a three-member bench comprising Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

According to court sources, the request for early hearing could not be accepted because cases are being scheduled according to their turn under the SC’s fixation policy. 

The sources said 94 criminal original petitions in the same category were already pending before the court. Uzma’s first request for an early hearing had also been rejected.

Uzma had filed the second application on August 27, urging the court to hear the contempt matter during the same week or at the earliest possible date the following week. 

She argued that further delay could cause “serious and irreparable harm” to Imran, citing concerns about his health and well-being.

The contempt petition will now be taken up on September 16.
