The Supreme Court of Pakistan initiated suo-motu proceedings in response to statements made by Faisal Vawda concerning alleged interference in the judiciary, as reported by media outlets on Thursday.

A panel headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa is scheduled to address the issue on Friday.

This panel will also comprise Justice Naeem Akhtar and Justice Irfan Saadat.

During a press briefing held on Wednesday, Vawda reacted to a recent letter from Justice Babar Sattar by advocating for an end to the practice of 'targeting institutions'.

He further criticized the timing of the allegations, which were raised a year after the purported interference incident.

Vawda emphasized that institutions should not be subjected to scrutiny solely based on unsubstantiated claims.

Additionally, he questioned the disparity in treatment between parliamentarians, who are prohibited from holding dual nationalities, and judges.

Vawda's remarks coincided with similar press conferences conducted by Azam Nazeer Tarar, Talal Chaudhry, and Mansoor Awan following Justice Babar Sattar's subsequent letter alleging interference in an ongoing case.
